Larry King LIVE with the Dixie Chicks.

I used to watch Larry King Live but I have found him increasingly obsequious with the years. Here’s a good example of his discomfort with anything even remotely controversial during his interview with the Dixie Chicks. It's the extract of an interesting exchange with a caller from Santa Fe, NM and the caller made a good but slightly embarrasing point:

Caller: The Dixie Chicks are on Larry King Live taking questions from the American public

LK: Correct

Caller: Last week, Donald Rumsfeld was on Larry King but he wasn’t on Larry King Live

LK: It was taped in the afternoon

Caller: Indeed, he did not take questions from our American public

LK: It’s hard to take calls when you’re taped

Caller: Yeah, well, I would like to observe that the Dixie Chicks have guts and integrity and Donald Rumsfeld has shown that he’s a coward as well as a liar

LK: Do you have a question?

Caller: Yes I do have a question.

LK: Go ahead.

Caller: Dixie Chicks, what do you think about Donald Rumsfeld?

(LK: I guessed we were getting to that. You could have began with that)

Emily: He weaves around questions better than anyone I've ever seen---He's the weaver.

To get a better sense of Larry King’s discomfort though (it's actually hilarious to watch), you should watch this extract from the show (via Crooks-and-Liars) . Larry King can be so annoyingly servile!
