Morality wins : 90-9

The US Senate just voted overwhelmingly to establish clear boundaries which would prohibit "cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment" against anyone in US government custody, no matter where they are held. That is should come to the US Congress needing to spell out T-O-R-T-U-R-E for this administration is not only sad, it's galling. But instead of taking note, President Bush is threatening his first veto. Something about limiting "the president's authority and flexibility in war." Apparently he likes the torture "option." It seems that limiting the President - who seems obvlivious to the boundaries of moral conduct - is EXACTLY what this legislation is supposed to do.
