Fox News Host to Guest: 'You're the devil!"

Last week-end, there was a great exchange between an anti-homosexual protester at the funerals of a fallen American soldier and a Foxnews host. The astounding part is that the news-anchor went pretty low herself, calling the Fundamentalist preacher (from some Westboro Baptist Church) "the devil", condemning her to hell.

"You are the devil!" said the journalist exclaimed to the preacher. "If you believe in the Bible, miss, you're going to hell!"

Well it is true that the preacher is the scariest of the two. Her congregation protest at funerals for slain U.S. troops with slogans such as "Thank God for 9-11," "Thank God for IEDs (improvised explosive devices)," and "God Hates Fags.".

But boy, at the same time, it is quite clear that Fox news has just reached a new low in its non-professional treatment of the news. The thing turned into some pseudo-biblical discussion worthy of the worst Saudi-funded religious television.

On the other hand, I must say it is kind of fun to watch – the preacher calling the journalist a bimbo who supports “gay” – well it’s the same sort of “fun” you’d have watching the Jerry Springer show – another unique American show. (more on those preaching a gospel of hate here)

Watch the video here.

NOTE: If you are surprised that Fox News should take on religious extremists, well it does make sense. Read this editorial about it. The article correctly suggests that the church group has crossed the line for Fox news when they decided to attack the military (themost trusted and sacred conservative institution). This is coherent with the position of Fox News which is on the side of governmental lobbying for the ban on the protesters, - a view in line with the Republican philosophy.
